Who did you think would win in a battle?
Wyatt Halliwell or Hope Mikaelson?
Definitely Wyatt Halliwell! Mostly because I haven't actually watched a single episode of any of the Vampire Diaries shows yet, so I have no idea who Hope is. (The main character in Legacies, I think?) (Don't worry, it's on my to watch list, my watch list is just really long atm.) I will say though that Wyatt is gonna be my answer for most situations. (Also thanks for the chance to do a little meta about Wyatt and his powers.)
From an objective standpoint in regards to powers, Wyatt wins against pretty much anything. I've said before and I'll say it again, I believe that Wyatt managed to break the Grand Design in the unchanged future with the exposure of magic, and I think that means he was able to kill some beings that he should not have traditionally been able to, aka the Cleaners and maybe even the Angel(s) of Destiny. (Which also loops into one of my now favorite headcanons that prophecies are made as a warning that a witch capable of breaking the Grand Design is coming.)
The catch, and how I'm able to write Wyatt in literally any conflict in my next gen fics, is that he has a critical weakness: he is terrified at the possibility of what he's capable of. (I have also mentioned that interpretation before, in connection with how Billie unintentionally makes it worse.) That kind of power is a lot for one person to handle, and Wyatt outclasses quite literally everyone around him by a large margin. I think that in a sense, his own fear serves as a kind of limiter on his power because he won't use them to the fullest extent. This is partially because he doesn't fully know what he's capable of because he doesn't experiment with his powers or push boundaries the same way that Chris does. While Wyatt has that kind of power, he lacks a greater amount of control and precision because he doesn't practice.
In a situation where Wyatt does go full-out, however, I think that he wins, no question. It's incredibly rare for him to do so, but one of his primary powers (projection) is a version of reality warping, y'know? That's not even getting into the fact that he has energy waves that can flat-out incinerate enemies without even trying. The challenge is getting him to a place where he doesn't hold back.

— hi there! the time has finally come, and im publishing my first Yunho fic 🥹 lately, some kind of maternal instinct seems to have awakened in me, and i had to get it out somehow 😭😭 i guess im getting old. just to clarify, i haven't given birth myself or have kids, so this fic is solely written based on my imagination of what it might feel like postpartum.
love, monika. ♡
if you enjoyed this post, i'd be so grateful for a little love – a like, reblog or comment would truly make my day!
You were dozing off wrapped in Yunho’s arms, your head in the crook of his neck, his smell calming your tired body. Your eyes were heavy, and it was getting harder to fight sleep. His hand was creasing your sides softly, lulling you to sleep. Being curled up on top of your boyfriend was your favorite place on earth. There was something incredibly comforting about being wrapped up in Yunho’s arms, feeling his warmth and steady heartbeat. It's like your own little sanctuary, a safe place where you can let go of all your worries and just be present in the moment. And falling asleep like that, with the gentle rhythm of Yunho's breathing and the soft touch of his hand, felt like drifting off into a dreamland.
It was a little over a month since your life was turned upside down when your little daughter was born. In that short period, every aspect of your world had shifted, reshaped by the arrival of this tiny, precious bundle of joy. The days had blurred together in a whirlwind of feedings, diaper changes, and sleepless nights. Yet amidst the chaos, there were moments of pure magic—how your daughter's eyes would light up with wonder at the world around her, the soft coos and gurgles that melted your heart, and the overwhelming sense of love that filled every corner of your home. But alongside the joy, there were also moments of doubt and uncertainty. Yunho, however, was deeply scared and anxious about becoming a father to a daughter. The mere thought of holding the fragile little being, feeding her, or changing her, filled him with a sense of fear and hesitation. It almost seemed like he was unable, or unwilling, to form an emotional bond with the newborn. This emotional disconnect was not just limited to the baby. Ever since you gave birth, a sense of apprehension and fear had gripped him. It was as if he was afraid to hold you, to touch you, and to confront the changes that your body had undergone postpartum.
The vulnerability that came with postpartum recovery was like nothing you had ever experienced before. Your body felt foreign, every movement was accompanied by a dull ache, a reminder of the physical toll that bringing your daughter into the world had exacted. But it wasn't just the physical changes that left you feeling vulnerable—it was the emotional upheaval as well. The hormonal fluctuations, the sleep deprivation, the overwhelming responsibility of caring for a newborn—all of it combined to create a perfect storm of doubt and insecurity. In those moments of vulnerability, you had expected Yunho to be your rock, your unwavering source of support and comfort. Yet, his actions—or rather, his lack of them—left you feeling more alone than ever. His hesitation to hold your daughter, and his reluctance to look at your postpartum body, all served as a painful reminder of your perceived shortcomings as a mother and a partner. You couldn't help but wonder if Yunho found you unlovable now if the changes wrought by childbirth had somehow diminished your worth in his eyes. It was a cruel thought, born out of fear and insecurity, but it lingered nonetheless, festering like an open wound in your heart. You couldn't help but feel a sense of helplessness wash over you. The distance between you and your boyfriend felt insurmountable, a gaping chasm that threatened to swallow you whole.
That's why today's little nap meant everything to you. For the first time since the birth of Yunmi, Yunho was holding you like this, providing you with the comfort and warmth you longed for.
"Wait, did you hear that?" Yunho’s soft voice disrupted your nap. Not in your right state of mind yet, you just hummed against his neck, your eyes not opening even for a second. With a gentle hand, Yunho shifted you slightly, allowing himself to slip out from beneath your embrace. As he rose from the bed, you blinked groggily, trying to shake off the remnants of sleep that clung to your senses.
"What is it?" you murmured, your voice thick with sleep. Yunho's expression was one of quiet concern as he motioned towards the crib.
"I think she's awake," he whispered, his tone barely audible in the dimly lit room. Your exhaustion weighed heavily on every limb, making even the simplest tasks seem daunting. With a weariness that seemed to seep into your bones, you clung to the pillows, seeking refuge in their soft embrace.
"Could you get her?" you whispered, your voice barely above a hoarse murmur, as you heard the soft cry emanating from the crib. You mustered all your strength to sit up and shake off the tiredness as you looked at Yunho standing still next to the crib, almost as if he was unable to move any closer. Each cry felt like a dagger to your heart, a reminder of your inability to provide the comfort that your daughter so desperately needed.
"I think it's better if you take her," he said, his voice devoid of emotion, his gaze fixed on the wall as if unwilling to meet your eyes. The words struck you like a slap in the face, igniting a firestorm of indignation deep within your chest. Yunho's refusal to take Yunmi stirred a storm of emotions within you. Anger, frustration, hurt—all of it boiled beneath the surface, threatening to spill over at any moment. How could he still refuse to take responsibility for his own daughter? How could he stand there, staring blankly ahead, while you bore the brunt of exhaustion and fatigue?
"Yunho, how can you—" you began as you stood up from the bed, your voice trembling with emotion, but the words caught in your throat, choked off by the weight of your anger and hurt. Tears welled in your eyes, hot and stinging, as you struggled to contain the torrent of emotions threatening to overwhelm you. As you approached the crib, your hands clenched into fists at your sides, your breath coming in ragged gasps as you fought to maintain control. You leaned over the crib to take Yunmi into your arms and care for her. With a shaky breath, you turned away from Yunho, cradling your daughter close to your chest as you retreated to the living room. You weren't surprised that Yunho stayed behind in the bedroom, his presence a silent reminder of the distance that had grown between you. With a heavy heart, you settled onto the couch, cradling Yunmi in your arms as you prepared to breastfeed her. Your daughter's eyelids drooped as she nursed, the weight of exhaustion finally catching up to her. With each gentle suckle, she grew more and more drowsy, her tiny fingers curling against your skin in a gesture of contentment. As you watched her drift off to sleep, a pang of guilt tugged at your heart. You had expected Yunho to be there for you, to support you through the challenges of motherhood, yet time and time again, he had fallen short of your expectations. Yunmi finally drifted off to sleep, her tiny chest rising and falling in a steady rhythm. With a weary sigh, you leaned back against the pillows, holding your daughter close as you closed your eyes, allowing the exhaustion of the day to finally claim you.
You opened your eyes to see Yunho carefully lifting your daughter from your arms, his movements a mix of awkwardness and tenderness. Despite his initial hesitance, there was a determination in the way he cradled her against his chest as if he wanted to make up for any shortcomings. As he tiptoed back into the bedroom, you couldn't help but feel a surge of warmth in your heart. Despite the challenges you faced, seeing Yunho taking care of your daughter for what you believed was the first time, filled you with hope for the future. You listened as Yunho gently placed your daughter in her crib, his voice humming a soft lullaby as he tucked her in. Drifting back to sleep, you were roused once more by Yunho's quiet voice emanating from the bedroom.
"I have so much I want to say to you," he whispered, his voice barely above a hushed murmur. Yunho gazed down at Yunmi, her small form tucked snugly into her crib, her chest rising and falling in the steady rhythm of sleep. ''I'm so sorry for letting you, and your mommy down since day one...'' A sense of awe washed over him as he watched his daughter, the weight of his emotions threatening to overwhelm him. "You're my little starlight, and I'm sorry for not telling you sooner. Yunmi is Daddy's precious, shining light in the darkness." He reached out to gently brush a stray lock of hair from her forehead, his touch feather-light against her soft skin. "Daddy is really so sorry," he continued, his voice thick with emotion. "Sorry for all the times I've been afraid, for all the moments I've missed. I want you to know that I love you more than anything in this world, and I'll do whatever it takes to be the father you deserve." As he spoke, he felt a surge of love and determination welling up inside him, a newfound sense of purpose ignited by the presence of his daughter. In her innocent slumber, he saw the promise of a future filled with endless possibilities, a future that he vowed to protect and nurture with all his heart. "I may not have all the answers, and I will make mistakes along the way," he whispered, his voice trembling with sincerity. "But I promise to always be here for you, to love you unconditionally, and to cherish every moment we share." With a tender smile, he pressed a gentle kiss to her forehead, his lips lingering against her skin for a moment longer. "I love you and Mommy so much. Sleep well, my little starlight," he whispered his voice a soft lullaby that filled the bedroom with warmth and love. "And know that Daddy will always be here, watching over you, every step of the way. From now on Daddy will do his best." As Yunho's words echoed in the quiet of the apartment, you felt a mix of emotions welling up inside you, threatening to overflow. Tears streamed down your face, unnoticed in the darkness, as a tumultuous storm of feelings raged within your heart. Anger simmered beneath the surface, directed not at Yunho, but at yourself. How could you have been so blind to his struggles, so oblivious to the pain he had been carrying? You berated yourself for not recognizing the signs sooner, for not being there for him when he needed you most. But amidst the anger, there was also a profound sense of relief—a weight lifting from your shoulders as you finally understood the depth of Yunho's feelings. For the first time since your daughter was born, you felt truly connected to him, bound together by the shared experience of parenthood and the raw vulnerability of exposing one's innermost fears. And beneath it all, there was love—a love that transcended words and actions, a love that bound you together despite the challenges you faced. Despite the tears and the turmoil, there was a sense of gratitude in knowing that you were not alone—that together, you could weather any storm that came your way.
A little while later, you heard Yunho returning to the living room, his footsteps soft against the floor. A pang of guilt tugged at your heart as you pretended to be asleep, not wanting him to know that you had overheard his heartfelt words to your daughter. You quickly wiped your tears, and kept your breathing slow and steady, willing yourself to remain still as Yunho approached the couch. Soon, his arms enveloped you in a gentle embrace, lifting you bridal-style and carrying you back to your shared bedroom. Settling you onto the bed, he tucked you in with care, ensuring you were comfortable before gently placing the duvet over you. His touch was tender, his actions speaking volumes of his love and devotion. Yunho pressed down a warm kiss to your forehead, his lips lingering for a moment against your skin.
"Y/N, I'm so sorry," he whispered, his voice trembling with emotion against your forehead. "I'm just so scared to be a father," he whispered, his voice barely audible in the stillness of the room. "Scared to hurt her, to make mistakes that she'll never forgive." You felt the weight of his fear pressing down on you, his vulnerability laying bare the depths of his insecurities. With each word, it was as if a window had been opened to his soul, revealing the raw, unfiltered truth of his innermost thoughts and feelings. "I want to be the best father I can be, but... but what if I'm not enough?" His voice cracked with the weight of his uncertainty, his words echoing in the stillness of the room. And then, you felt it—a single tear falling onto your temple, a silent testament to the depth of his pain and fear. In that moment, your heart broke for him, for the struggles he faced and the burdens he carried. "And you," Yunho continued, his voice trembling with emotion, "you've been amazing since day one. I've watched you, seen the way you care for her with such love and devotion. It's like you were born to be a mother, and... and I can't help but feel like I'm falling short." Yunho longed to be the pillar of support you needed, the rock upon which your family could lean in times of trouble. But with each passing day, the weight of his insecurities grew heavier, threatening to crush him beneath their burden. "I'm still so afraid," he admitted, his voice barely a whisper now. "Afraid of letting you down, of letting Yunmi down. But I promise, I'll keep trying. I'll do whatever it takes to be the father she deserves, even if... even if it scares me to my core." In the darkness of the bedroom, his words hung heavy in the air. "I love you so much, Y/N, and I will do better, I will be the support you need." Yunho's voice broke through the silence once again, his words filled with sincerity and remorse.
"And I love you," you finally whispered, your voice filled with tenderness and affection. With a gentle touch, you reached out to wipe away the tears that streaked Yunho's cheeks, your fingers tracing the contours of his face with utmost care.
"You've been awake the entire time?" Yunho's voice broke the silence, his words carrying a mixture of surprise and relief. A shy smile tugged at the corners of his lips, a hint of uncertainty in his gaze as he met your eyes. You returned his smile, the warmth of his presence washing over you like a gentle breeze.
"Yes," you admitted softly, your voice filled with understanding. "I heard everything." There was no judgment in your words, no recrimination for his vulnerability. Instead, there was only acceptance—a shared acknowledgment of the complexities of love and the struggles that came with it. Yunho's smile widened, a sense of gratitude shining in his eyes.
"Thank you for listening," he whispered, his lips placing yet another kiss on your forehead. "And for being here with me." You reached out to him, your hand finding his in the darkness, a silent reassurance of your love and support.
"Always," you whispered, your voice filled with unwavering devotion. "I'll always be here for you, Yunho. Through thick and thin." Yunho creased your cheek gently, his eyes never leaving yours. "And now get under the covers with me," you giggled mischievously, reaching out to pull Yunho close by his neck. With a playful tug, you caught him off guard, pulling him towards you until he landed on top of you with a soft thud. Yunho's eyes widened in surprise, a startled laugh escaping his lips as he found himself sprawled across the bed, his gaze locked with yours.
"You little trickster," he chuckled, his voice filled with amusement as he shifted to settle beside you under the covers. With a grin, you wrapped your arms around him, pulling him close until your bodies were pressed together in a warm embrace. The feel of his warmth against your skin sent a shiver of delight down your spine, a feeling of contentment settling over you like a soft blanket. "I haven't kissed you in forever," Yunho murmured, his voice laced with longing as he gazed into your eyes with a mixture of affection and desire. A soft smile tugged at the corners of your lips, your heart fluttering at the thought of his lips against yours.
"Then what are you waiting for?" you teased as you leaned in closer to him. With a tender touch, Yunho cupped your cheek, his thumb brushing lightly against your skin as he drew you closer to him. And then, with a gentle tilt of his head, his lips met yours in a sweet, lingering kiss. At that moment, as you melted into each other's embrace, time seemed to stand still. The world faded away, leaving only the two of you, lost in the warmth and intimacy of the moment. As you pulled away, breathless and flushed with emotion, you felt a sense of completeness wash over you—a reminder that no matter how long it had been since your last kiss, the love you shared was as strong and passionate as ever. A playful sparkle danced in your eyes as you posed the question, your curiosity piqued by Yunho's endearing nickname for your daughter.
"If she's your starlight, then what does it make me?" you asked, a teasing lilt to your voice as you awaited his response. Yunho's gaze softened as he looked at you, a tender smile gracing his lips.
"You," he said softly, his voice filled with warmth and affection, "you're my guiding light. The one that leads me home, no matter how lost I may feel." Your boyfriend's words washed over you like a gentle caress, filling you with a sense of warmth and love. With a smile of your own, you leaned in closer to him, your heart overflowing with love and gratitude.
"And you," you whispered, pressing a soft kiss to his lips, "you're my everything." And as you melted into each other's embrace, surrounded by the quiet intimacy of the night, you knew that no matter what the future held, as long as you had each other, you could weather any storm that came your way.
The sound of Yunmi's cries pierced through the tranquility of the night, pulling you from the depths of sleep with a jolt. You moved to rise from the bed, instinctively driven to tend to your daughter's needs. But before you could fully untangle yourself from the sheets, Yunho's firm grip on your arm halted your movements.
"I'll get her," he murmured, his voice filled with determination as he gently pulled you back towards the bed. You hesitated for a moment, torn between the instinctual urge to rush to Yunmi's side and the desire to trust Yunho to handle the situation. But as you looked into his eyes, you saw a steely resolve there—a determination to prove himself as a capable dad, despite his fears and insecurities. With a silent nod, you allowed yourself to sink back onto the bed, the warmth of Yunho's presence comforting you as you watched him rise to tend to your daughter. As he crossed the room to Yunmi's crib, you couldn't help but feel a surge of pride welling up within you—a recognition of the strength and courage it took for him to step up and take on the role of caregiver. Yunho took her in his arms, gently and tenderly, almost as if he were afraid that his touch alone might hurt her. He held Yunmi close to his chest, rocking gently from side to side, he tried to calm his daughter, yet Yunho's panic escalated as Yunmi's cries persisted, his worry evident in the trembling of his hands and the furrow of his brow.
"Is she okay?" he asked, his voice tight with anxiety.
"She's probably just hungry," you reassured him gently as you stood up for the bed, understanding the depth of his concern. But before you could offer to nurse her yourself, Yunho's response caught you off guard.
"Oh..." he trailed off, his voice filled with uncertainty. "I can't breastfeed her," he murmured, the realization dawning on him as he grappled with the limitations of his role as a father. You reached out to him, placing a comforting hand on his arm.
"It's okay, baby," you assured him softly. "There are other ways you can help soothe her. We can prepare a bottle together, or you can hold her close while I feed her. What's important is that we're both here for her." Yunho nodded, his eyes reflecting a mixture of relief and gratitude.
"Thank you," Yunho whispered, his voice filled with emotion as he passed Yunmi gently into your arms, his eyes still big with worry. "Should I prepare a bottle for her?" You smiled softly at his eagerness to help, appreciating his willingness to step up despite his initial panic.
"I think I'll just breastfeed her for now," you replied, your voice gentle and reassuring. "But thank you for offering." Yunho nodded, a sense of relief washing over him as he watched you cradle Yunmi close, the familiarity of the bond between mother and daughter bringing him a sense of comfort. As you settled into the comfortable position, you nursed Yunmi, Yunho remained by your side, offering silent support and encouragement. As you nursed Yunmi, the gentle rhythm of her feeding lulled both her and Yunho into a peaceful slumber. The soft sounds of her contented suckling mixed with the steady beat of their breathing, creating a tranquil symphony that filled the room. With Yunmi cradled in your arms and Yunho nestled close beside you, you felt a profound sense of contentment wash over you. The warmth of their bodies against yours, the softness of their breath against your skin—it was a moment of pure serenity, a snapshot of the quiet joy that parenthood brought. You allowed yourself to bask in the tranquility of the moment, relishing the feeling of being surrounded by the ones you loved most in the world. In the soft glow of the morning light, you watched over them with a heart full of love, knowing that in this simple embrace, you had everything you ever needed.
"Be patient with him. He's trying," you whispered to your daughter, the words soft and tender as you gazed down at her sleeping form.

A fic snippet in my head that I’m not sure I’ll expand on but won’t leave me alone lol
“He has the papers to be here Jayce, I don’t know why you’re acting like this!”
“He’s dangerous!”
“Because he’s from the Undercity, need I remind you, I’m-”
“You’ve never killed anyone!”
Viktor froze, both surprised that Jayce knew and that he would say that. Viktor considered the man before him for a moment, his anger rolling off in him in waves, his fear for Viktor clearly the cause of it.
Viktor tried to keep that in mind, as he felt his own anger build.
“But I have.”
Jayce stared at him, mouth agape and Viktor knew that he’d feel some fond amusement when he’d picture his face later but right now he was mostly numb, apathy only broken by bubbling frustration mixed with righteous anger.
“When I was… fourteen, if recall correctly? A man placed a knife against my throat and told my… companion to give him ‘whatever he had on him’ my companion would have, I believe, to save my life if necessary, but that money was to be used for… other’s medical expenses and I was as stubborn then as I am now.”
The man lounging across his divan, a gift from the stunned man of progress himself, back when Viktor had first moved in to his new apartment, snorted, and muttered “Ain’t that the truth,” under his breath.
Jayce’s gaze swung to him, frigid with anger, as if he himself wouldn’t agree under other circumstances.
Viktor glanced over, taking note as he always did whenever his glaze lingered on the furniture piece that was suspiciously close to the Talis house colors. As were several other items in his house that Jayce had given him over the years to celebrate achievements or for anniversaries.
“I refused to let the man take our money, especially if he was to use me as a bargaining chip to get it… so I bit him.”
Jayce glare soften as Viktor talked and then harshened again fiercely when poorly veiled huffs of laughter came from the divan.
“His grip loosened in response, so I let my cane fall, grabbed his arm with both of mine, and pulled down with all my strength, causing the knife to swing down, slash my leg and stab his. It nicked his, ah, femoral artery.”
“That, that’s not, you didn’t kill him.”
“The man is dead. I was the cause. How did I not?”
“It was self-defense!”
“Sure, and he’s dead nonetheless. I could have made other choices, if I had, he might not be. But I didn’t, Jayce, and so he is.”
“That, yes, but,”
It had been a long time since Viktor had seen him so ineloquent, it made his lips twitch upwards slightly against his will.
Viktor gestured to his guest, “Would you be so defensive of him, as well? Even if you wouldn’t consider the act immoral for him as you do me, done in self defense, would you still insist he didn’t kill the man? Or is it that you can’t associate me with killing the way you can with others from the Undercity? It seems you came here immediately after finding out but do you even know the circumstances? Do you know why he killed that man?”
Jayce paused, eyes saddened in such a way that reminded him of a puppy that didn’t understand why you were scolding them.
Viktor sighed, heavily from his nose, and leaned his crutch against he wall, wrapping his hand around Jayce’s wrist, physical touch the best way to keep Jayce’s attention on him and not lose him to his own spirals.
“I believe that you… you care so strongly for those… for the people in your life that it’s almost like we are born renewed in your eyes the day that you meet us. You put us on a pedestal, and so nothing that happened before you knew us matters. And that’s… sweet, I suppose, but it’s also incredibly naive.”
Viktor tightened his grip, Jayce’s eyes locked onto his own, heavy and heated.
“Noxus is a brutal empire, she is technically one of its heirs, generally it would have been expected of her but have you ever considered if Mel has ever taken a life?”
Jayce’s brows furrowed and when he went to interject, Viktor held up his hand to stop him.
“I’m not saying she has, she very well may not have, nor am I suggesting that she should be condemned if she has, as her circumstances may have given her no choice but the thought has never even crossed your mind has it?”
Jayce stared at him, wide eyed but he shook his head in defeat, even if he didn’t realize it.
“But it might for a random Noxian stranger, perhaps?”
Jayce’s lips pursed but he didn’t answer.
“Again, it’s sweet but rather naive to not even consider how the circumstances of our births may have lead us down different paths than you, Jayce, to the point where you think us untouchable, to the point where you have placed us above our peoples.”
Jayce’s rigid posture deflated slowly and he slumped forward a bit, forehead gently falling on Viktor’s shoulder, face turned just slightly towards him.
Viktor twisted his hold on Jayce’s arm with practiced ease so that he could keep his balance even as his partner leaned into him.
Viktor held himself still as Jayce’s breath danced across his neck.
“I’m not trying to be…”
“Unkind? Presumptuous? Thick-headed?”
Jayce snorted and the action caused his nose to brush against the back of Viktor’s jaw.
Viktor let Jayce gather his thoughts.
“I just want you safe.” He muttered dejectedly into Viktor’s shoulder after a minute.
Viktor sighed heavily, bringing his other hand to Jayce’s arm, rubbing it to provide some comfort, “Yes, Jayce, I know. I know.”
(ps I love Jayce but I do think canon shows that he 1) kinda puts his loved ones on a pedestal and 2) that because he does so he doesn’t really consider their pasts much. Like it seems like he routinely forgets? Or doesn’t consider the fact that Viktor is from the Undercity even when talking to him in canon)

Georgia is at a turning point. Demonstrations have spread across the country in response to the ruling Georgian Dream’s shocking decision to suspend Georgia’s European Union membership process, started in 2022, after the opposition accused it of rigging a victory in the October parliamentary elections. The events bring to mind the 2014 Maidan Revolution, when Ukrainians protested then-President Viktor Yanukovych’s decision to pull Ukraine away from the EU and closer to Russia.
Georgian authorities have responded to protesters with heavy-handed tactics. They have used water cannons, tear gas, and anti-riot forces, targeting journalists and arresting activists in an effort to weaken the protests and deter further dissent. These tactics, reminiscent of those used by Russian President Vladimir Putin and Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko, indicate a dangerous shift toward authoritarianism.
It is unclear why Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze announced Georgia’s withdrawal from the EU accession process until 2028 now, but he wouldn’t have done so without the direction of Bidzina Ivanishvili, Georgia’s richest man and founder of Georgian Dream. While Kobakhidze accused the EU of blackmailing Georgia in his Nov. 28 statement announcing the move, his party had just campaigned for reelection promising to support EU membership. Perhaps the move was intended to preempt the expected suspension of the accession process by the EU in December; the European Parliament last week described the voting process in the October elections as “neither free nor fair” and adopted a resolution declaring the results invalid. Or perhaps it was intended to provoke protests, thus giving the government an opportunity to crush all dissent, just as Lukashenko did in Belarus in 2020.
If the latter is true, though, that strategy appears to be failing. The scale and scope of ongoing protests are unprecedented in Georgia. They are self-organized, with no single political leader or organization driving them, and are occurring in Tbilisi, the capital, but also in other large cities and even some villages. This grassroots mobilization highlights the Georgian people’s determination to keep their country on a European path.
Georgia’s institutions are showing signs of cracks. Civil servants from the ministries of defense, foreign affairs, education, and justice and other agencies have issued joint statements to distance themselves from the prime minister’s announcement. Several diplomats, including Georgia’s ambassador to the United States, have resigned.
The outcome of this standoff may hinge on the actions of security forces, law enforcement, and the military. If there are more high-ranking resignations, especially from the security services, Georgian Dream’s grip could slip. Another tipping point could be if police disobey orders to use lethal force against protesters. Already, the silence of Georgia’s military may indicate its preference to side with the country’s commander in chief, President Salome Zourabichvili.
For her part, Zourabichvili has refused to recognize the seating of Parliament, which four parties backing a pro-European charter have boycotted. Her refusal renders the current actions of the Georgian Dream-only Parliament unconstitutional. Zourabichvili has stood with protesters in the streets and has created a national unity council, designed to prepare the way for new elections.
Her efforts have borne fruit, with opposition parties showing unusual cohesion. But the president’s ability to drive change will remain limited without strong, immediate support from Brussels and Washington, even as the latter is distracted with its own presidential transition.
The days ahead will be critical. Georgia’s future remains deeply uncertain, and the stakes for the country’s democracy, let alone its European aspirations, could not be higher. Over the weekend, the United States suspended its strategic partnership with Georgia, but U.S. and European leaders can and should do more—and fast.
To this end, Georgia’s Western allies should declare that the October elections were fraudulent and thus the seating of the new Parliament and reestablishment of a Georgian Dream government—without the required approval of the Georgian president—are illegitimate and unconstitutional; there will be no recognition of Georgia’s government until new, free and fair elections are held.
They should also impose immediate and public sanctions on Ivanishvili and his associated business interests as a direct consequence for his role in undermining democratic processes, as well as provide strong political and diplomatic backing for Zourabichvili in her efforts to bring about new, free and fair elections, thus creating a path for democratic renewal. Lastly, they should call on the Georgian military and security services to uphold the country’s constitution, even if this means refusing to obey orders from the illegitimate government.
Russia is determined to flip governments in its near neighborhood, whether through presidential elections in Romania, general elections in Bulgaria, gas price pressure in Moldova, or fraudulent elections in Georgia. The West needs its own strategy to prevent Russia from succeeding. Georgia is now ground zero. The decisions made in the coming days will determine whether the country reinforces its democracy and moves closer to Europe or slides further into authoritarianism and Moscow’s orbit. And this, in turn, will inform Russia’s policies in the wider region.

Tumblr media
This is a game that has extremely heavy themes, so please be aware of that! There's some things said that are extremely dark within their own context, so discretion is advised. Also obvious dialogue spoilers for the game.
Remember to specify muse for multi-muses!
Tumblr media
"I hope this hurts."
"The only thing that's worth than dyin' is not gettin' paid."
"Man. Pony Express bosses really aren't chill at all, huh?"
"C'mon. One look won't hurt."
"How exactly is this group therapy committee planning on getting in there?"
"I nearly corked a kid once!"
"You were goddamn born fully corked!"
"For better or worse I'm captain now. I'll figure it out."
"He doesn't want to keep still anymore."
"What about the pain killers?"
"...You did make it through nursing school right?"
"I'll take care of it."
"Why do you think he did it?"
"Does it matter? What answer would make you feel any better?
"I have to believe our worst moments don't make us monsters, [name]."
"He tried to take us all down with him, [name]."
"As I see it there's two reasons to keep him alive at this point. Guess the important bit is that we all agreed to it. For one reason or another."
"I'm workin'. Blue collar fools can't afford to stop working even when the machine does. Go figure."
"I ain't letting anyone else mess around in there."
"I warned her, but it was in one ear and out the other."
"Then there's that teeny bopper only thinkin' with his downstairs longnose just like my useless kids back home."
"Are we doing the right thing...?"
"...Are you listening?"
"Couldn't sleep again, but I passed the psych eval?"
"I do wish you'd open up a little more, [name]."
"He acts as if I do these things for fun."
"I've known him a long time. He won't try any bullshit with me."
"They can't expect me to work miracles!"
"I don't know what it means, but... it sounds like fun."
"Passed inspection, right? Shouldn't be an issue."
"I take it [name] diagnosed you with "being sane" then?"
"...How are things otherwise? Off the record."
"I like it. We're in control here."
"How come it always feels like you're standing on the edge of a bridge with your feet in cement?"
"Is this enough? Should I just stay here because I've been successful at it?"
"It's terrifying. I think, "Am I figured out? Is this all I'll ever be?" Or do I take the risk and try something new? Even if I'm bad at it."
"Hm. I guess I get it. You've reached the highest rung on this ladder and now you're thinkin' you might be on the wrong ladder altogether. Still a long way down from the top no matter how you look at it... While I'm still climbing and climbing."
"Hey I believe in you! Here. On Earth. Doesn't matter."
"...It's all mouthwash."
"I s'pose we'll smell good at least."
"Guess anyone could get seriously blasted off this stuff."
"Yeah and kill you in the process."
"...Hey. What's wrong?"
"That's all it said on the report from management. We will receive the paycheck for this delivery. I don't know anymore than that."
"...So I guess you got what you wanted. Without the guilt."
"...[name]. If I had known..."
"I can go back to my, how'd you put it? "Struggle of a life.""
"I'm just working on my life being a place I don't have to fucking escape!"
"We're the ones you're trying to escape! Leave the dirt behind now that your boots are clean."
"You just couldn't frame it to yourself in a way that still kept you as the hero."
"Let's have some fucking cake, hmm?"
"Come on. Stop with the noise."
"I know what everyone is thinking. The way they look at me. What can I even say?"
"I hope these make you feel fucking better."
"Take responsibility."
"Sometimes you can only get the subpar stuff. That' what makes the really good stuff, well, good, right?"
"Hey. We all tried to escape. It didn't work for any of us."
"I've thought many times, "Hey is this what peace feels like? And is this good enough?" If I'm being real it certainly isn't the best. So all I can try to do is make my life one I'm not trying to run from all the time."
"Mom found this internship for me. Such a slacker she said."
"I don't know. I just never know what I wanted to be. Never was good at anything."
"We're not done yet, [name]."
"Listen, listen! This is the best part. Aa-waay-oooo!"
"You're a mess, [name]."
"[name] pullin' the plug on the party before it's the last call!"
"you thinking about drinking that too?"
"Honestly, yeah. It'd probably just make me sick. Wouldn't fix anything, as much as I'd like it to."
"...You're not serious."
"Look I've entertained your sentimentality up until now, but I'm actually trying to fix things [name]!"
"...I'm sorry. I didn't mean to—"
"...I don't think I understood the pressure you were under before. Fuck. And you tried to tell me."
"Our worst moments don't make us monsters, huh?"
"I'll get us both through this."
"You heard [name]. I wouldn't put it past them to do something extreme right now."
"What would you have done?"
"Anything. Anything. You, the crew, you're all my responsibility."
"I know you'd never give me the gun to protect myself, so the least I can do... is make sure he never gets it either."
"...The bleeding won't stop. Just try to sit still [name]."
"It's alright, [name]. Calm down."
"I though you were dumber than a can of paint, always chewing me ear off about something. Useless ray of goddamn sunshine. Not an ace student, career workhorse or force of ambition. Just a damn good kid trying his best. You coulda taught an old fool like me a lot."
"Why can't any of you give me some time to fucking think!?"
"How do you still not understand? It's over. End of the fuckin' line."
"Take care of it."
"All I ever hear is how great of a leader you are. God, it's so annoying."
"Or this can be remembered as a tragedy. Despite what must have been the best efforts of it's acclaimed captain. The crew never found. No one survived to tell the tale."
"You're standing at the top. Feet in cement. I get it now. Right?"
"[Name], t-tell me you didn't."
"I won't give up on you, even like this, I believe in you. We're going to make it through this."
"I have something to say. So shut the fuck up and listen."
"So I got a collar shirt, a mortgage. Everything that makes a good man."
"I wanted to believe I was never one set-back away from my worst self."
"I've got nothing to hide. I'll face the music. I can see myself for what I am. But you? A cowardly, selfish motherfucker and you can't even see it."
"[Name]. I'm going to fix everything. We're going to make it."
"Fuck you."
"I know what you think of this predicament of yours. Poor you. Caged and misunderstood."
"Shut up. [Name] tried his best. I did too, but he's the better man."
"You really mean all that, huh?"
"I fucked up, but I can make things right."
"You always had my back. I ended up I ended up hurting you even though I was trying to save us."
"It's like you said, together we can fix anything."

Okay, but like. There's the whole joke about Bruce recruiting children to be his sidekicks, but honestly there's only really one that fits that.
And it's Jason. And the whole story there is, frankly, unhinged. Aaaaand then he died.
(I'm specifically talking about "first post-crisis origin stories" here because Jason and Dick, in particular, have both had multiple major retcons and revisions over the years, and some of them dramatically change how things happened.)
Like okay. Going backwards, you've got Duke who joined/led a whole Robin-based gang at a time when Bruce wasn't even Batman. You've got Damian and Cass, who were both literally born into the world of masks and capes and heroes and villains, so they weren't ever really not going to be part of it. Steph might have taken inspiration from previous heroes but she made her own identity and repeatedly refused to stop involving herself in the vigilante lifestyle. Tim, obviously, basically strong-armed Batman into letting him be Robin, despite Batman's protests.
Dick's a little more complicated just because there's so many versions, because that's what 80 years of comics and multiple universe reboots will do, and there's kind of a general trend that earlier pre-crisis versions were more of Batman being like "hello, child, would you like to be my sidekick" and later versions have leaned harder and harder into the idea that Dick was absolutely going to do this anyway, regardless of what Batman had to say about it. But even in the first post-crisis version, the flashback in Batman Year 3, Dick says he wants to find a way to keep people like that from hurting others again. When Alfred questions Bruce's offer to train him, Bruce says that Dick should learn to do things the right way if he's going to do it. It's not hard to extrapolate that, much like later versions of the origin story, Dick was going to get himself into this one way or another. (Batman (1940) #437)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And then there's Jason. Whose backstory has also had a lot of (sometimes major) revisions over the years (remember when his adoption was, like, some kind of Joker-originated long con? Fucken Nu52, man). But the original post-crisis version is pretty straightforward. Steals Batman's tires, gets caught and sent to Ma Gunn's Secret Criminal School, intervenes when Batman goes to investigate, immediately gets offered the chance to be Robin based entirely on that.
Which is itself kind of unhinged. That Bruce saw this kid who was living on his own stealing tires and went "Hey you would make a good Robin" as his very first instinct.
But if you've never read Jason's post-crisis origin, or it's been a while, it's honestly even more unhinged than that because that arc starts with Dick getting "fired" as Robin specifically for the reason that he got shot by Joker and Bruce freaked out about how the Robin identity has too many enemies and therefore Dick, a legal adult with approximately a decade of training and experience, should not use the identity anymore.
(And it's specifically about the Robin identity, in this version, because when Dick says he's not going to stop the crime fighting thing Bruce's response is basically "I know and I didn't expect you to". Honestly I could also say a lot about this version of the Robin/Nightwing transition vs. later ones and how this one definitely feels like the Heavy Hand of DC Editorial in the fact that they had no contact for so long afterwards, because the interaction really doesn't feel like it warrants that in this case compared to some later versions, but that's a whole other too-long ramble.) (Batman (1940) #408)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And then a few weeks later Bruce turns around and picks up a random kid, a literal child, and goes "Hey you would make a good Robin!"
And I think a lot about how fucking wild that is. And it's not like the people writing just didn't notice. Dick's big argument with Bruce when he finally comes back to Gotham and meets Jason isn't about the fact that Bruce took in another kid, or even necessarily about Dick feeling proprietary over the Robin identity, the thing he's angry about is that Bruce said it was too dangerous for him, an adult, someone who has trained with Batman for a decade and was already highly physically trained before that for his whole life, to be Robin, and now Bruce has turned around and painted that target onto some random new kid. He pushes, repeatedly, trying to get Bruce to justify himself and this absolutely irresponsible decision, and Bruce gives a lot of answers about how Jason was on a bad path and needed this outlet and eventually just admits that he missed having a partner. (Batman (1940) #416)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And like. Dick's right, is the thing. He is 1000% in the right in this argument. If he can't be Robin anymore because of the danger, how in the hell is it anything like a good idea to hand it over to someone way younger, way less trained, way less experienced, and expect that that wouldn't end in tragedy?
And then it did.
And yeah, Bruce, it is kinda a lot of your fault.

OWO OWO OWO EEEEEEEE gav i am SO eyes emoji about everythinggggg you're working on and im gonna hold it so so so close to me forever but i am ESPECIALLY eyes emoji about "scales tipped" >:))))
OHHHHH THIS ONE. the short version is this is the one where lamb, having expected a carbon copy of the man who ruined his life and instead got... river, does the math incorrectly and starts to suspect david cartwright may have abused river. he determines that if this is a possibility, and what's more if it may still be happening, then it is on him to make sure that the old bastard isn't still hurting people including someone under lamb's own roof. (david Did Not hurt river and Is Not hurting him now. unfortunately by the time lamb reaches this conclusion he is in over his head and far more invested in river's well-being than he ever planned on getting.)
more detailed sort of layout of things under the cut :)
the title is from sleeping at last's 'heirloom'
the scale tipped / when you inherited / a fight that you were born to lose / it's not your fault / no it's not your fault / i put this heavy heart in you
basically. lamb gets word of a new reject getting sent to slough house. and then there's possibly the worst news it possibly could have been: this is not just any reject, this is david cartwright's baby grandson all grown up. and so lamb has to brace himself because what he's expecting is another david. david as lamb remembers him. an ice cold monster who kept his own hands clean at the expense of everyone around him. i used to have a heart. and then i worked for him.
and if this kid is anything like david, then he is a danger to his colleagues to the service and to the public. lamb is expecting david 2.0, someone that he's going to have to protect people from. and that's not good. that's something he's not happy about having to prepare for. and then what he actually gets is uh. river. which actually, somehow, is worse.
he meets river. he sees what sort of person river is. he realizes he was wrong. this isn’t another david. but the conclusion he NEXT reaches is uh. is also not really… right. because he starts to think okay. so the kid's not another david. river cartwright is, it would seem, a good, sweet lad. and so lamb goes to the next logical step in his mind which is fuck. david raised this kid. it's not unlikely david also abused him. maybe the one place he didn't mind getting his own hands dirty was behind the closed door of his own home.
which, for the record… did not happen. but lamb doesn't know what we do, as the audience, about how david and river are with each other. all lamb knows is the david he knew and the river he's found himself with now (constantly seeking approval, prone to shying away and making himself small when people get in his space, reckless with his own safety, desperate for connection) and that is not an equation that he likes the answer to.
so now he's gone from thinking okay. i'm going to have to protect people from river. how do i do that. to the honestly much more difficult question of is river being hurt and how am i going to protect him. because if david hurt him, it's not unlikely it would still be happening. and if david is hurting someone now, especially someone under lamb's roof at slough house, then it's on lamb to make it stop.
so lamb needs to… look into this. he needs to test river's reactions to some things, see if he can uncover warning signs. and the problem is, he does. river's got some uh. concerning behaviours and instincts. kid's clearly got some Issues. but also when lamb takes it a little farther and starts asking some questions with other questions hidden under them, bringing up david in a way that doesn't rouse suspicion but will get the subject on the table, river's responses are like… not that.
(it doesn’t totally help clear things up that river's got... some issues. maybe his mum had a boyfriend or two who Didn’t Like Him Much. maybe it's because of his mum herself. his general sense of people not wanting him and his grandparents taking him in because they had to but he always wondered if one day he would ruin it. spider did not Help. so it’s like- he reacts to those initial probing efforts in a way lamb finds troubling. but when they actually talk in any way about david, the kid’s all relaxed shoulders and soft eyes. it doesn’t compute.)
and so it wasn’t like that. that’s not what it was like. but that initial sort of like. rollercoaster of worrying about river in two very different and whiplash inducing ways. is he dangerous like david. is he in danger from david. could have very easily gotten river right under his skin quick. in a way that’s really troubling to him now and very hard to shake. and it still... lamb dismisses the initial concern, but it sits at the back of his mind for a while. he's never completely, 100% certain.
and some encounter with david like. through some tense interaction, they’re sort of standing off. david is having a more lucid day. and to cap the conversation off, before he leaves, lamb is just. oh and for the record. you’d better not have laid a hand on that boy. cause if i find out you did…
(river finds out this happened and is torn between being UTTERLY HORRIFIED and a little oddly warmed by it and he’s like. having some of the weirdest mixed feelings of his life because on the one hand lamb just. went out of his way to try to protect him, and it was in a way completely unrelated to the job. and on the other hand lamb implicitly accused david of abusing him and oh my gd??? oh my GD why did he DO THAT lamb what the FUCK???
and he talks to david about it like. HE SAID WHAT TO YOU? OH MY GD. IM SO SORRY. I HAVE NO IDEA WHY HE- JESUS. IM SO SORRY. and david is bizarrely unphased by it like. jackson lamb and i have had our differences, to put it mildly. looking after your well-being is not one of them.)

Frothing at the mouth for your take on Orion and Regulus’ relationship they mean all the muck in world to me
so first of all, i will take any really cool interpretation of their relationship because i feel as though it could be very different. but mine is obv. my fav lol. Also regulus IS trans, its a key part of his character to me and i cant see him any other way. This is going to be long lol because i have been WAITING to talk about this. (HEAVY on hard times lol)
I would like to say that both walburga and orion do not see their children as their own people, but there is a key difference between the two. While walburga sees her kids as an extension of herself -just another body part, orion's lack of recognition for his kids' autonomy and persons manifests as him believing them to be his property, as something he owns. Walburga still feels for her kids, WITH her kids, becuase they are apart of her. Though the detriments of this is that she will only ever see them as for her; their actions, their opinions, etc etc is all an extension of her and are done for her, just like everything your body does(breath, crave, fight infection etc) is for you, whether good or bad, seeing as even you own body can retaliate against you. They will live and die for her. But orion owns them. He does not feel much for them, its not his job to. But theyre still his, they belong to him and he wants to keep them. It would be a faluire to not. If he must have this family, they will be a family. No matter any indifference he feels, theyre his!!!! Nonetheless, despite being his, he still believs them to be the 'problem' and responsibility of walburga.
Now this brings me to regulus, orion feels a greater ownership over regulus for being born a girl. As that kind of steryotypical victorianish and extremely religous belief that women will always belong to someone, first their father and then are 'given away' to whoever they marry. Orion was taught this and now has that extra feeling of ownership over reg.
Hes never cared much for reg on a personal level, regulus seemed to be the 'perfect kid' for them, but it was never noticed because that was what was expected he should be. But he did feel more possesive, cuz sirius was gonna eventually not be his anymore, not past his teen years, he would become a man and go off on his own. Orion though was actually less tough on him than he was on sirius. He had to prepare Sirius. But (even after transition) regulus was bound by birth to belong to orion and walburga until he married.
I would go further to say, despite any cultural contempt for regulus and his transess, part of orion and walburga were a little relieved. Both of them had this rebelling Sirius after he used to be such a good kid. Orion had just lost one of his belongings, he didnt want to lose another by marrying reg off. Here, he could still keep whats left of his family, not have to deal with how incredibly upset walburga wpuld be once both her kids had left her, and regulus would definitely not be an issue for him, he was evolving into the child he wanted to have, never trouble mevr noticable, just there and well. And walburga was a little relieved, the same way she was a little relieved when regulus died, he could not turn into her. It strayed him even further from repeating her mistakes. They could keep their last kid, not having to cut off their last extremity, and in their heads still see him as he was born. They would pretend, as always. The ultimate nuclear family.
Now this brings me to their actual relationship. Orion doesnt pay him too much attention. Hes never been one for fondness, and he doesnt have to be tough on regulus thats for walburga to do. No positive, no negative. He doesnt notice regulus unless reg makes him. So regulus, who needs his dad, will do anything to get that. he wants a parental figure thats less complicated as the relationship he has with walburga(somebody please ask me ab them). And orion is that.
There is only indifference and attention. Thats all regulus gets. And regulus mistakes his fathers possesivness as love, as protectiveness. And hell work for it, hell suck up to his dad, hell play pretend-anything to get that simple "parental" relationship.
The kind of attention he gets, and the work he must do for even a simple conversation with his dad is normal to him. It tires him, its exhausting to do so, but he needs something. Some guiding figure. Orion, when reg is noticed, will show him how to do things or explain something to him, the conversations they have are always some kind of game between the two. They understand each other in a way regulus always is very indifferent, hell suck up to his dad but never enough for it to seem genuine. Theyre playing a game of a normal parent child relationship, and it works, the outside eye would either see them as very fond of eachother or too much so.
When regulus isnt trying, hes barely there to orion, other than how orion keeps an eye on him. Anywhere they are, hes making sure that his kid isnt about to do/get into anything troubling. He doesnt care much or or have any interest though, just keeping his ducks in a line. If he notices something astray hell step in. In a way that somehow still indifferent towards regulus. Hell take regulus by his arm out of the room, tell him in the most bored and objective way what the problem is, and blankly leave.
If regulus wants his attention, to be noticed and recognized by him, it must be directly towards orion, he must be in someway serving him. Whether that be getting him a drink, fetching the newspaper for him, telling him something interesting, whatever. And never around any one else, otherwise regulus is invisible. Everytime he tries and theres something orion would rather pay attention to, he still feels like that 'little girl' who just needs orion's attention, in any way. He doesnt want to need this, but he really just wants this 'real' father figure. No matter what, hell only get extremes. Too far, too close.
Orion died within the same year as regulus, i like to think it was before regulus, from some sickness sonce he was not yet that old. And that year or so before he died, he found himself uncharacteristically fond of regulus who managed to become as he shpuld, completely like orion, and who is the only thing left. Walburga is stricken with this grief over sirius, shes too much for him, not as she used to be. But his last possesion is still here and willing to do whatever for the slightest comment, so he gives him a lot of attention, he likes to see his own reflection when he looks at reg. But now, regulus doesnt want it as bad, he feels differently about it. He realizes that this isnt who he wants to be, he resents himself. He sees the poison hes become. He is fated, cursed by the family tree. He knows that in being just like his father(something he prayed for, and still begrudgingly prides in), he will never escape it.
Regulus has such a close and complex relationship with his mother, but he craves that paternal relationship. Orion, with their incredible similarities, is something of a teacher or an idol to reg. His mother is convinced they will turn out the same, for she was the same as her mother why wouldnt her 'daughter' be the same as her. But its him and orion that are truly alike. He pratically begs for scraps of an understanding and learning from his father, maybe it will bring him closer to himself. Maybe he will be better. He thinks that maybe if he becomes just as his father wants him to be, hell reach perfection of form. And he does.
Hes simultaneously his dads favourite and could die tomorrow and orion woudlnt care. As i said before, depending on the timing, anyone could look at the relationship between reg+his dad and either see two strangers who are even distasteful of the other, and the closest parental-child relationship almost creepily so. They're very messed up. A growing tension yet at the same time, a comfortability between them that no one else in the family would have. No matter which they are, its how they shouldnt be.
Idk lmk if this makes sense or anything id go on but i think im rambling😭😭i have many a more thoughts tho btw(🥺).

“I really just need to make an entire breakdown on Medic one of these days 😭” Well, do it. Umm, you coward —I'm so sorry for calling you a coward, Jamison :'(—.
Medic's Past Headcanons (Also Some Archimedes Content!)
————————————————————
No apology needed my friend, I am but a coward 😭
I lied a little bit, I changed my mind on doing a full breakdown, just changed it to some headcanons about his past and meeting Archimedes </3
But no, I've mainly not posted this because I've had other requests and also this one will probably get heavy. I wasn't sure if I wanted to post content with actual angst and upsetting themes.
But I'm here now because looking past all the jokes and my own personal love for doctors. I should also mention, written by an American and a person with know knowledge of the German education system, and medical practices in general!
ALSO, finally writing Medic with his accent and some actual German, please forgive me if you are a native speaker for using a mix of google translate and my very poor German skills 💖
————————————————————
ALSO ALSO mutual appreciation comment! Another thank you for letting me talk about Medic <3
————————————————————
TW: CHILD NEGELECT, SU!C1D@L IDIATIONS, FLUFF AT THE END!
————————————————————
He's been asked about his mother before, his answer has always been,
"Meine mutter? She vas good woman, she... she did her best." Said with a softer tone than anyone has ever heard him speak in.
He's lying. She severely neglected him as child. After his mother fell pregnant, his father left. His mother resented Medic for this, blaming him for his father leaving, refusing to realize how volatile their relationship had been before he was conceived. When Medic was born his mother refused to bond with him, holding him only when others gave her expecting looks. For the first years of his life his mother only tended to his basic needs to keep him from crying, his crying always annoyed her. It never got better with time, she never learned to love him like people had claimed when she started expressing her contempt for him. She would sometimes give him small bits of attention, then she would get a wicked smile on her face as he cried when she stopped paying attention to him for seemingly no reason. Always making him feel like he was responsible for the sudden lack of attention.
————————————————————
His younger years in school is also something he will lie about if asked. (I'm ignoring college because uh, I have no idea what to write for that 😭)
"I vas great, top of my classes, Natürlich. Ich war sehr beliebt."
(Of course. I was very popular)
When he was younger, he was top of his classes. He always excelled at whatever class he was put in, his favorites being science, he obviously loved medical textbooks, along with zoology textbooks, always had one of the other, he'd spend lunches just reading from his books, or hiding in the library, trying to learn everything he could about both. In a way you could say he was popular, but not in the good way. He always had his books on hand, always had the best grades, was always the teachers favorite student, and the other kids hated that. He took his fair share of beatings while he was in school.
————————————————————Medic had never thought about dying, sure he watched patients die, and he knew deep down his mother had died at some point, (He never heard from her after he left his home town, despite his attempts to contact her) but he never thought about the concept of him dying. It hit him like a ton of bricks when he had his first panic attack, and it clicked in his head that he just didn't want to be alive. He couldn't tell you why the switch flipped in his head that made him reach that low, but it did, and it was awful. He almost went insane, he couldn't breathe, he couldn't do anything besides sit in his room and feel years of emotions just hit him out of nowhere. He thought he would die, he wanted to die, dying would be preferable to whatever this was. In the midst of his panic attack, something hit his window with a loud thump. (Aren't I so clever for this transition? lmao 😭)
————————————————————
The day Medic and Archimedes met continues to be one of the best days of his life. A bird had hit his window, pulling him out of whatever spiral he was currently having. Medic just looked at the window for a minute, content to just assume the bird flew off after being dazed a bit. When he heard tiny coos and chirps outside. He pushed it open and saw a little dove huddled in a corner, cooing sadly, shaking as it tried to move its wing but chirping painfully when he moved his wing. Medic put his hand out and tried to scoop up the bird, and the bird ended up attacking his hand. Medic pulled his hand back, a tad shocked, but then tried again. The bird slowly eased up to him once he understood Medic wasn't going to hurt him. Medic took him inside and checked him out. His wing was broken, and it was nothing Medic couldn't fix. He fixed up the birds wing, then decided to get some things to keep the bird comfortable while he recovered. He ended up spoiling him without realizing it. He went to go buy a bird cage and ended up buying the nicest one, the best bird food, and even toys 😭 He came back and set it up all nice for the bird. They bonded pretty quickly after that. However, time passed, and Medic found himself growing attached to the little bird, even naming him, which he knew was a mistake the moment he did so. He knew it was a bad idea, and he did it anyway. After about a month of them living together, Archimedes wing was functional again, Medic enjoyed watching him fly from his cage to the door to great him when he came home from wherever he had gone. But after the third or fourth time, Archimedes greeted him at the door. He knew he was well enough to go back out into the world. That evening, before sunset, Medic opened his window and put Archimedes on the ledge, prompting him to fly off, totally not on the verge of tears, about to experience the worst pain of his life or anything. Archimedes just tilted his head, confused, turned around, and nestled up to Medics arm that he had been propping himself on. Audible sobbing could be heard from his house that night. Medic would later find a way to keep Archimedes to live forever with him, making sure that Archimedes was spoiled to death, and was told each day the value Medic put on their friendship.
"Wir werden für immer zusammen sein, mein Freund, das verspreche ich!"
"Coo"
(It'll be us forever my friend, I promise.)
(I'm counting on it)
————————————————————
Ough, im a sucker for a happy ending 😭or for some reason, I feel like this is super embarrassing, but I' going to ignore that feeling. Sorry for the angst dump, but it had to be done, and I'm sorry it's not very long! I hope you guys like this! Uh, a mini headcanons, then another Medic post, and then some new headcanons are in the works! There is so much Medic content, but I'm not complaining 💖

I’m having Gavin Family brain rot so here are my parent designs!
If you want to read me psychoanalyzing the whole family, see below :3
Starting with Katrin, my idea was that her personality largely resembles Kristoph’s. Working with the assumption that Kristoph has antisocial personality disorder, we know that susceptibility for the disorder passes through the maternal genes. I don’t think that either Katrin or Kristoph would be born with antisocial personality disorder. Both are victims of intergenerational cycles of abuse, which cause them to develop the disorder as a response to the trauma they received.
It is worth pointing out that antisocial personality disorder is a spectrum, as are all mental disorders, and ASPD does not make a person abusive, however, it will influence the way an abusive person abuses. In the case of these two, both are prone to manipulation. Katrin leans towards emotional manipulation, Kristoph leans more towards gaslighting and psychological abuse.
For those wondering, even though the terms are outdated and no longer used due to societal stigma, in a court of law both Katrin and Kristoph’s ASPD would be referred to as sociopathy; both would be considered sociopaths. However, the terms psychopath and sociopath overlap a lot and neither Kristoph or Katrin neatly fit under one or the other.
I also like to think that she has obsessive-compulsive disorder, although the symptoms lessened when she began to develop ASPD. I headcanon both of the two Gavin brothers as having OCD and I think their mother would be the genetic link for that.
Meanwhile, for Karsten, he was raised by very well known and praised defense attorneys, both of whom were demanding. He was raised very traditionally, however not necessarily religiously. Due to these beliefs, he was expected to carry on the Gavin family legacy despite the fact that he had no interest of having a family of his own or working in the field of law. After meeting Katrin, the two decided it would be most convenient for both of them to be married. Katrin, with the newfound status of being a Gavin, was able to quickly climb the corporate ladder and acquired her CEO position. Karsten began working for the company in the wake of his wife’s success.
The dude is very autistic, but refuses to get tested at all, rejects the entire notion. When his children began displaying signs of mental illness he purposefully ignored the signs and became more heavy handed. I like to think his special interest is something entirely out of character like makeup, or nail art.
In my personal opinion, Klavier shows a lot of the signs of autism, although that may be projection. I think that Karsten would not like Klavier in the slightest, especially because he sees a lot of his own symptoms in Klavier and thus he will never be able to live up to his standards.
Similar to what a lot of people in the fandom headcanon for the Gavin family, I believe that Kristoph would have been the primary caretaker for Klavier, despite both parents being present in their lives. I think that Kristoph initially moved to the United States to separate himself from his parents, and that Klavier followed suit not too long after.

Rookie dispatcher knew Officer Darron Burks was in trouble
Tumblr media
DALLAS POLICE Sound that danger makes
Owen Larsen specializes in sounds.
Tumblr media
He’s learned the daily mix, like a sigh when an officer is tired or a thump to indicate a bumped object.
He differentiates screams in the worst situations, gauging severity based on tone.
In the world of police dispatch, he knows the subtlest sound can mean the difference between a routine call and a crisis.
So his ears perked, he said, when he heard a gurgle the night of Aug. 29.
“That wasn’t right,” Larsen recalled. “It didn’t sound anything like what I’ve heard before.”
The sound came from Officer Darron Burks, known to Larsen by his element number, Charlie 717.
Larsen didn’t know it then, but Burks had just been shot as he sat in his squad car in southeast Oak Cliff.
The new dispatcher was one of the last people to talk to Burks, a former schoolteacher killed in the brazen attack.
From Dallas’ dispatch room of about 80 people, Larsen sent officers to check on Burks, then guided them through a massive emergency response that included a chase to Lewisville and the killing of the gunman.
A year earlier, that quick police response likely wouldn’t have been possible.
The Dallas Police Department transitioned last year to Project 25, a new radio system that helped Larsen speedily identify which officer made the abnormal noise and track down his location.
The old system didn’t give dispatchers identifying information or location services, police officials said.
The new one is also interoperable, allowing agencies that helped Dallas police to communicate on the same channel.
For his actions the night of Burks’ death, Larsen was thrust into recognition, a feeling that has yet to become familiar to the North Texas native, he told The Dallas Morning News in an exclusive hourlong interview.
Asked if he felt as calm as he seemed in a recording of the radio traffic uploaded to YouTube, his answer was blunt.
“Internally? No,” Larsen told The News in December.
Jumping into action
Larsen, a 32-year-old with a tall stature and long red beard, was born in Lancaster and has lived in Garland and Sachse.
He got an education as an aircraft mechanic but started his career as a heavy equipment mechanic for the city of Dallas’ sanitation department.
He left after a spinal injury, he said, and searched for another city position until he landed as a 911 call taker in 2023.
This year, he decided to join dispatch, where he’d shadowed friends. It felt, to him, like a step up.
Larsen finished four months of training and hit the dispatch floor on his own in the weeks before Burks’ death.
He quickly adopted his own system.
He uses six screens at any one time.
One is a map showing officers’ locations.
There’s one for his email and dispatch system hub, one internet screen and two showing lists of units and incidents.
Then there’s a radio screen, which shows badge numbers, the time a recording starts and the duration.
Aug. 29 started as a normal day, Larsen said.
The next day was his birthday and he was trying to decide if he wanted it off.
But that night, he was tasked to work dispatch for the South Central Patrol Division.
He expected priority calls, but that’s just Dallas, he said.
Stabbings, shootings, kidnappings, armed encounters — “you just kind of get ’em all.”
He remembers he handled an officer assist call stemming from a traffic stop, which was resolved after he sent another officer.
Around 10 p.m., Charlie 717 mic’ed up through his handheld radio.
Burks wanted to be assigned to a nearby high-priority call, which Larsen believes was an armed encounter at an apartment complex.
He thought Burks was on his way, then heard the second-long groan.
He realized it came from Burks, whose location hadn’t moved.
“I know he’s there,” Larsen thought, “I know he’s near his radio, and he’s not replying anymore. There’s something kind of weird.”
“Did you mean to mic up?” Larsen asked.
Nothing.
“Do we need to reroute to Charlie 717’s location?” an officer cuts in. “If you’re close by, go ahead and head over there,” Larsen replied.
Types of screams
The gravity of what occurred hit Larsen after the first scream, which was followed by another.
Tumblr media
Jamie Farmer and Karissa David, the officers he’d sent, were shot. “On the 911 side, you hear screams all the time,” Larsen told The News .
“You kind of recognize the difference between somebody screaming because of a situation and somebody screaming because something’s happened to them. When David and Farmer both screamed, you can tell there’s a difference.”
A sergeant got there, and three officers set off emergency alarms, spurring a cacophony of screeches and strobe effects in the dispatch room.
It took Larsen a second to register what was happening, he said.
Then he dropped into training:
Clear the air.
Turn the call into an officer assist.
Get people there as fast as possible.
“What unit is that?” Larsen called over the radio after the screams.
Heavy breathing is heard.
“What’s going on?” Larsen pressed. At least six shots are heard.
“Units — I need units to head to 907 E. Ledbetter. Code 3,” Larsen said, referring to the code for an emergency response.
Larsen said other officers arrived just as the Buick driven by the gunman left the scene.
For the next several minutes, he called out the gunman’s location as police chased him.
A Department of Public Safety helicopter pilot joined in to help, he said, and the pilot checked on officers, which inspired Larsen to also try to calm the responders.
Larsen told others on the radio to keep quiet, hoping to prevent random chatter.
He told officers to clear themselves from other responses so he could add them if they wanted to aid in the pursuit.
Simultaneously, he coordinated the responses to an accident involving an officer and a different high-priority call in South Central.
Other dispatchers joined in to help, but he led the response.
Larsen’s shift ended at 10:30 p.m., but he stayed an extra hour.
An employee arrived to help take the reins, but he insisted on staying.
It was an officer safety issue, Larsen said.
He didn’t want anything to get lost by switching crews.
Instead, he delegated tasks, like calling hospitals to prepare them for the officers and alerting suburban agencies that Dallas officers were crossing into their jurisdictions, to the others.
“There’s definitely pressure, but you kind of drop into a habit,” Larsen said. “You know what needs to happen.”
The gunman stopped in Lewisville and got out of his car.
At least six officers opened fire, killing him.
The aftermath
After the gunman was killed and the officers were at the hospitals, a “weird slowdown” happened, Larsen said.
He went to a break room and sat alone.
Then he went to find supervisors and tried to find out the officers’ conditions.
He remembered an officer needed CPR.
Soon after, he learned Burks had died.
He talked to DPD’s wellness unit before he left for the night.
It wears him out to think about that night, and he said he still leans on his wife and family for support.
“It’s just hard to know that two of your units were in the hospital and one wasn’t able to make it home,” Larsen said.
Nowadays, he feels twitchier on radios and more protective.
If he hears an odd sound, he’s more aggressive in tracking officers down.
Once, he sent a sergeant to check on an officer who hadn’t replied.
That officer was in the bathroom, Larsen said.
“It’s been a little rough,” Larsen said.
“For the first couple of weeks, I had a little trouble sleeping at the time. Whenever the emergency button was pressed, that set me off a little bit.”
He makes an effort to keep in touch with Farmer and spoke twice with David.
He didn’t know until he talked to her how bad her injuries were.
David was shot in the face and is now blind in both eyes.
For all that was lost, Larsen’s supervisors point to him for what went right.
Larsen credits his training for his quick response.
If an officer mics up and you don’t hear from him or her again, you’re supposed to check with that officer twice before sending someone.
Much came down to experience, he said.
“Until you really deal with it day in, day out, you’re not going to have that great grasp,” Larsen said.
“Once you become used to it — you’re used to the flow of how things go, you’re able to focus on other things multidimensionally.”
Robert Uribe, Dallas police 911 administrator, said the radio system implemented last year has given the department far more flexibility.
Under the older, antiquated protocols, he said, they’d need to do a roll call: ask each officer to key up and let them know he or she is OK.
They’d then need to narrow down who was missing, and they also wouldn’t have had the officer’s location from the handheld radios.
Their response would’ve taken a lot longer, Uribe said.
Minutes they didn’t have.
It’s impossible to guess the outcome had officers taken that much longer.
The gunman could’ve had more time to escape.
He could’ve hurt someone else — or had more time to hide and prepare an ambush for more officers as they arrived.
Larsen is an “inspirational story,” Uribe said, highlighting his and other staffers’ efforts that night.
“The call takers, the supervisors, the dispatchers, they all came together in a very critical time,” Uribe said.
“They’re all hailed as heroes.”
Then-Dallas police Chief Eddie García said after the shooting that Larsen sent help to an officer when he needed it most.
Though the chief didn’t mention Larsen by name, he publicly praised the dispatcher who followed training and protocol, adding: “It was brave and honorable work done.”
Larsen’s trainer later sent him an online clip of the chief’s remarks.
“It felt weird having the chief talk about me,” Larsen said in the interview with The News .
“I felt a sense of pride, but at the same time, it was still bitter knowing that three of your officers have been injured.”
When The News asked how he felt about being called a hero, Larsen stared down at a table.
He was quiet for several moments.
“That’s a strange feeling,” he finally said.
Funeral blues
Larsen listened to the radio traffic uploaded to YouTube in the days after Burks’ death.
https://fb.watch/wKm0IGnAHl/
The noise from Burks that first triggered Larsen’s attention that night sounded different from what he remembers — more like a moan.
He hasn’t listened to the clip since.
Larsen tried to work that following weekend, but his supervisor didn’t let him, insisting he rest.
So instead, he went to the South Central Patrol Division.
He later attended a candlelight vigil for Burks and a viewing.
He didn’t want to sit at home, he said.
He wanted to be there for anyone who needed him.
That feeling carried into the morning of Sept. 7 as he pulled on his light blue communications dress uniform.
Loved ones piled into Burks’ funeral at a North Dallas church. They listened to local leaders call on police employees to stand tall, to continue their public service in Burks’ memory.
Sitting among the sworn officers heeding that call was Larsen, a dot of light blue in a sea of dark police uniforms.

NAME. Dior 'Bladeweaver' Thalasir AGE & BIRTH DATE. 380 & November 27th, 2644 GENDER & PRONOUNS. Male & He/Him NATIONALITY. Lysaran SPECIES. High Elvhen FACTION. N/A OCCUPATION. Gladiator FACE CLAIM. Charles Melton
biography
( tw: violence, death )
The noble family of Thalasir has long held dominion over the lowest branch of Laurelin on Sylaise's Shore—a destiny traditionally reserved for each firstborn child. Dior, born second, was spared these heavy responsibilities. Instead, he enjoyed the freedom to explore his desires, traversing not only the other branches but also the varied regions of Taravell, charming all whom he encountered.
When Dior's powers emerged, his parents hoped he would embrace a life of craftsmanship, particularly given his potential to become the most celebrated weapons craftsman in centuries. However, the prospect of crafting weapons for others to claim glory was unappealing to him. This realization did not quench his ambition but redirected it; Dior decided to seek his own path to glory.
Returning to Lysara with a newfound purpose, Dior set his sights on becoming the world's greatest gladiator. He used his charm to secure sponsorship from a wealthy family, promising to bring glory to their name through his prowess in the arena. With his unique ability granting him a significant edge, Dior devoted himself to rigorous training in their ludus. His debut match was a resounding success, and victory came effortlessly.
Dior quickly outgrew the small arena, rising to compete in the premier leagues of gladiatorial combat. Despite the increase in competition, few could pose a real challenge; defeating someone who could conjure a blade out of thin air proved a daunting task for his opponents.
Dior was not only a formidable opponent in the arena, but he also became the crowd's favorite. Far from humble, his striking looks combined with his flair for trash-talking and showboating made him a sensation. Arenas sold out their seats in record time whenever he was slated to appear, surpassing even the most optimistic predictions of the promoters. Even when not fighting, merely being an honored guest at events, people would clamor for the priciest seats just for the chance to catch a glimpse of him. The glory and fame he had longed for were now his, and he reveled in every moment of it.
Returning to Avalon was always a bittersweet affair for Dior. He would transition from the adulation of hundreds chanting his name to the quiet disapproval of his family, who saw little value in his gladiatorial pursuits. Most of the elvhen shared this sentiment, unable to understand the allure of the arena. Yet, for Dior, this was a minor inconvenience compared to the thunderous welcome he received at each of his comeback fights. No matter how often he departed, the roar of the crowd upon his return reassured him of his chosen path. The arena had become his sanctuary, the fans his chosen kin, providing a sense of belonging that Avalon no longer offered.
Of course, just when everything seemed perfect, his actual family would appear to complicate matters. Dior was vaguely aware of the missteps his older sibling had made, though the details were murky. Yet somehow, it had fallen upon him to rectify these blunders in the name of the Thalasir family. The dilemma was stark: stepping up would mean abandoning everything he had fought so hard to achieve, a sacrifice he was not sure he was willing to make. Never intended to bear the burden of responsibility as the second son, Dior was resistant to changing his course now. His life in the arena, free from the expectations tied to his sibling's birthright, was where he thrived.

Synopsis: This story continues from Spectacular Spider-Man #240…
Mary Jane is out shopping with her Aunt Anna when she decides to call her husband Peter Parker and tell him that they are stopping at the Daily Grind for lunch and tell him when she expects to return home. As the two women plan out the final leg of their shopping spree, they are completely unaware that the mysterious man plotting against Spider-Man is continuing his grand scheme in the building behind them. Meeting Gaunt, his loyal second in command, this mystery man is pleased that Gaunt eliminated Seward Trainer. Decked out in his new cybernetic armor, Gaunt -- aka Mendel Stromm -- is ordered to tie up the remaining loose ends of his master's grand scheme and then he is to kill Ben Reilly right before Peter Parker's eyes.
Meanwhile, at the Daily Bugle, J. Jonah Jameson is furious to learn that there is an emergency board meeting scheduled for that evening, on Halloween of all nights. As he complains, Joe Robertson points out that the Daily Bugle has been under a lot of financial strains recently and that is likely going to be the topic of conversation. Fed up, Jonah rushes to the elevators to try and get to the upper floors to discuss the situation with the board of directors only to discover that the elevators are undergoing maintenance, angering him even more. While at Peter Parker's home in Forest Hills, Ben Reilly assists him in finding his mobile device so he can keep in touch with Mary Jane while they are out. As they walk the neighborhood, Ben once again expresses his excitement of being an uncle, as Peter and Mary Jane's baby is due to be born soon. They also notice the repair efforts being undergone in the area following Onslaught's attack on Manhattan. This reminds them how the Fantastic Four and the Avengers sacrificed their lives to stop Onslaught and how the city needs heroes right now. That's when Peter suggests that maybe it is time for there to be two Spider-Men. Ben reminds Peter that he has a responsibility to his wife and unborn child and reminds him that Peter's powers are not back to their full strength and cut out on occasion. Peter, however, shows Ben that he is at the top of his game by leaping up into a nearby tree and swings between the branches. Ben is convinced but tells Peter to cut it out before someone sees him. While at Manhattan's 28th Precinct, Aruthr Stacy pays a visit to Detective Connor Trevane to discuss a common interest: Spider-Man.
While in Hoboken, Flash Thompson receives a letter by registered courier. It turns out to be an invitation to a Halloween party being thrown at the Daily Bugle. Although the invitation is anonymous, Flash thinks this is a perfect opportunity for him redeem himself in the eyes of Betty Brant. At that same moment, Betty Brant is opening her own invitation, however, hers isn't entirely anonymous, as it is signed by someone calling themselves "O", unfortunately, she has no idea who it could be. Back in Queens, Peter finally manages to convince Ben that his powers are back up to full speed when suddenly both of their spider-senses goes off. They leap into the ruins of a nearby school and find some children playing in the rubble. As they are trying to get the kids to safety, the pair is suddenly ambushed by Gaunt. In the ensuing confusion, Ben manages to slip away and changes into Spider-Man. As the wall-crawler distracts Gaunt, Peter leads the children to safety.
In Manhattan, Mary Jane and her Aunt Anna are sitting down to lunch at the Daily Grind. When Mary Jane orders the gumbo, the waitress goes into the kitchen to prepare the meal. When nobody is looking, the waitress then slips a drug into the soup with a sly grin on her face. Back in Queens, Spider-Man continues to fight his foe and learns that it is Gaunt, the man who ran Multivex and forced Seward Trainer to work with him. This distracted thought allows Gaunt to finally strike the web-slinger. The battle then causes a collapse elsewhere trapping Peter and the children. As Parker tries to move the rubble, his spider-powers aren't co-operating. However, his spider-sense begins going off warning him of the children whose eyes have just started glowing. At that moment, at the Daily Grind, Mary Jane has suddenly gone into labor and it is an incredibly painful one, prompting an ambulance to be called. The paramedics on the scene realize that this isn't natural and could spell trouble for the pregnant woman and her unborn child. In Queens, Spider-Man finally pins Gaunt to the ground and gets a good look at his restored face. He instantly recognizes him as Mendel Stromm -- the man that Spider-Man once fought years ago. While Spider-Man is distracted again, Stromm activates a pair of robots that try and ambush the wall-crawler from behind.
By this point, Peter has discovered that the children in his care are actually robots and manages to escape the deathtrap and rejoins Ben. As they are surrounded by Mendel Stromm and his creations, Peter receives a notification from his mobile device and realizes that Mary Jane is in serious trouble.
… Revelations continue in Amazing Spider-Man #418.

Now that I have a little more time, I can give more substance to the answers I gave you earlier, at least the first time.
Here's what I really thought, based on my reading of Morpheus: there can't be any happy ending involving that Morpheus remains Dream of the Endless. Why?
First, because as you said, it would imply that he doesn't kill Orpheus, or that someone does it for him, and none of these solutions are satisfying, because we can't let Orpheus live like this and we can't also give someone else than his father the responsability of killing him. I guess only Calliope, being his mother, would be ok to do it because she would want her son to stop suffering, but since she has no responsability in what happened to Orpheus unlike Dream, I doubt that she could. And anyway, would aynone want to inflict that to her? Surely not, so let's forget it.
Second, and that's almost a more important reason for me than the first one: Morpheus isnn't happy being Dream of the Endless. He expressed multiple times that he refused to abandon his realm, but it wasn't because he loved being king of the Dreaming... He felt he had no choice, because it was his responsabilities and he was born for it, but I think being physically trapped in a fishbowl for 100 years made him really aware of how he felt about his role.
He asked Shakespeare to write the Tempest and he tells him why:
"I wanted a tell of graceful ends. I wanted a play about a king who drowns his books, and breaks his staff, and leaves his kingdom. About a magician who becomes a man. About a man who turns his back on magic."
And when Shakespeare asks him why, he answers
"Because I will never leave my island."
And that's when he also says he can't change, and that he's the Prince of stories but has no story of his own. Which is of course wrong, we all know it here, but that's the story he's been telling himself since forever, and thus he's miserable and unable to imagine another life even if... even if he wants one. He thinks he can't, he also thinks he doesn't deserve it , so he asked Shakespeare to write a story where he could.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So, I know I personally can't and won't write a story with "happy forever ending" with Morpheus who's still king of the Dreaming and has by his sides the queen/king of his choice, because the way I read this story he wants to be something else entirely.
That's the true tragedy: he wants another life, he knows he could have it because he saw his sibling have it, everybody tells him he should just leave, but he takes the excuse of duty and rules to stay until he finds a way out, which is Death. I can't think of a scenario where he would kill his son, or not kill him but know his son is miserable as hell, AND have a happy ending as a ruler of the Dreaming. This just doesn't work.
To be happy, he needs to change. To change, he needs to stop hating himself and trust his capacity to change. But as long as he stays Dream of the Endless, he won't allow himself that because he feels bonded by rules and responsabilities, excuses he will always give himself not to change. It's a very vicious circle in which Neil has written Morpheus in.
And let's, for the fun of it, admit he "retires", as it's often suggested in fics and headcanons: I think @writing-for-life you said it before me: how could he happy with all his memories? How do you expect a father to live happy ever after remembering he killed his only son with his own hands? I mean, it can be argued that Hob lost several children, and that a lot of people irl lost their kids and still manage to move on from their loss in their life; BUT Morpheus didn't just lose his son, he murdered him. It was an act of mercy, of course, but it's still extremely traumatizing. I don't think that he could just "retire" and live happy forever as barista in a coffee shop with such a heavy baggage.
So yeah, as far as I'm concerned the only good way is reincarnation. A new life, a rebirth, with no memories left of his previous incarnation or, you know, just fragments that could help him. I have no idea if it would work within canon, and I don't have any hope that the show will even suggest this outcome, but that's the only "happy forever ending" I would accept, I think.
Tumblr media
Give me your head-canons:
How do you solve the Orpheus problem?
As in: It’s the elephant in the room in so many canon-compliant or -adjacent fanfics I read (we obviously don’t need to talk about coffee shop AUs) and Orpheus either keeps on existing somehow (and no one cares, because Dream and whatever love interest just literally fuck off into the sunset and pretend everything’s okay), or he gets killed by someone else who quite strictly wouldn’t be able to kill him.
Is it a solvable problem?
If he keeps existing as a severed head, it’s honestly a bit shite for him, isn’t it? So these are the fics where we keep on visiting severed heads. I don’t know, I find that… dissatisfying.
If Dream kills him, it’s over. Unless he stays in the Dreaming and lets the storm blow over. Will it though? I mean yeah, he could sit there for all eternity (groan), not take Death’s hand and make sure he doesn’t conveniently leave so the Kindly Ones get in and start ripping the Dreaming to shreds. But that doesn’t really sound like a solution to me either, because the problem won’t go away. Also: Probably no meetings in the waking world with you-know-who ever again. Plot hole, people, it doesn’t work that way.
If someone else kills him: Who? Please don’t say Hob, I know he’s immortal (so was Murphy), but the very idea is that no one can kill the poor kid because he made a deal with Death, which she apparently can’t revoke. Is there an entity who could? Which links in to the question: Why could Dream (somewhat rhetorical question)? Could any similar entity do it if they also had to grant him a boon? But don’t forget: Can’t be one of the Endless, they’re all family. Unless one sacrifices themselves. I mean, I think I’ve seen Death doing that in a fic somewhere, I think the assumption was she’s okay with dying a mortal death, but I also felt that’s not quite right, since it’s just not the same (also: in her mortal form, she wouldn’t have those powers). Does it have to be The Presence/Glory? Why would they care?
Yeah, he could use the Saeculum I guess, but really? If the problem never existed, it would also feel… wrong? Plus, we all know that changing the past always has implications on the future that go far beyond the thing we want to change. Plus plus: I honestly think it would be a bit OOC for him because he’d feel there’s not enough at stake (like a whole universe imploding) to ever justify that. So no, that’s, IMHO, making him into someone he really isn’t (can of course be an option in fanfic I guess).
Same goes for the Dream of a Thousand Cats Spiel. Someone who is so wrapped up in his duty just wouldn’t do that for his own personal gain, and not even for one loved one (he also wouldn’t be allowed to kick it off by telling anyone, and what 1,000 dreamers would dream that? I mean, WE all would, but that’s a bit… meta?😂). I said what I said.
Or is it some sort of magic? Like, he’s still a severed head, but we make him *think* he isn’t, give him back a body (in his own mind, or maybe even for real)? But that’s also… not great and feels like gaslighting him. Really not keen.
So what say you?
Is this just a case of: Unsolvable problem, hence we might as well pretend we solve it in some ridiculous way or pretend it doesn’t exist in the first place?

Can you please do a CE characters reactions to reader announcing she’s pregnant?
YES 😩 - I’ll also add how they act after the news are announced because I feel like that will differentiate them better.
18+ ONLY | MINORS DNI
WARNING - the following contains: pregnancy, mention of sex and breeding kink.
Steve Rogers
Tumblr media
When you first bring forward the news, he’s over the moon with eagerness.
“Sweetheart, are you serious? Oh my god, this is amazing! I’m going to be a father!”
He has been waiting for this very moment for so long, and you’ll have to deal with his constant strokes around your belly for the next 9 months. Even when you aren’t showing, he can’t seem to stop touching your stomach, because to him it’s a reminder of the bundle of joy it’ll grow to be soon. He is just in full amazement of how you’re glowing when your baby bump starts so show, and he’ll remind you as such.
“Have I told you how amazing you are? Keeping my child, safe and healthy in your womb…you’ll make an amazing mother. I love you so much.”
He will spend all his time with you at the end of your second trimester, taking you out for slow and nice walks in a quiet park while planning on what names you should consider naming your child, and talking about your plans on moving to a nice and secured family house where you can raise your child in peace.
Ransom Drysdale
Tumblr media
I think Ransom would be a bit shocked, especially if it wasn’t planned.
“Wait, what? Are you sure? Well damn…- wait no, - I mean that’s great news darling, m’just processing it….”
He’s aware of the heavy responsibility that comes with raising a child and he is unsure of himself if he’s capable of being a good father. You’ll have that talk where you soothe and assure him that everything will be okay, and that he will be a wonderful father if he’s willing to put in the effort.
“Well, if you’re up to raising a brat into the Drysdale family, count me in. M’sure we will manage. Besides, I’m willing to bet you’ll look fucking sexy with your tummy all round with my child.” He will add with seductiveness.
Ransom will take care of your needs, both physical and sexual needs at his best. He will hire maids to take over the chores you used to do, and as for your other needs - it’s left in Ransom’s good hands. Your pregnancy period will also be Ransom’s journey of discovering he has a pregnancy/breeding kink.
Johnny Storm
Tumblr media
Johnny would be taken by surprise, and wouldn’t know how to feel right after being given the news.
“You’re pregnant? For real? That’s…wow, I don’t know what to say. Not that it’s bad news or anything, I just didn’t expect it to happen so soon…”
Behind his somewhat excited facade, he’s actually really scared of parenthood. In the beginning, he will resolve into being distant only days after knowing, and go on his own adventures for a temporary escape. Ben, Reed and his sister, Susan will call him out on it as it goes noticed and they will tell him he needs to man up. He’ll realize he’s in the wrong for not being there for you as much as he should be and he will be of full support after the end of your first trimester, dedicating himself for the full life commitment.
“I’ll be here more from now on, I promise, babe. I’m sorry I was distant, - I was being a coward. I love you and can’t wait to meet the little guy.” He’ll say softly, while stroking your baby bump. As you spend more time together, the more excited he is to be a dad - especially since there’s a possibility for his child being born with powers similar to his own.
Ari Levinson
Tumblr media
Ari is thrilled when he receives the news, mostly for your behalf because he knows you have wanted to be a mom for some time. He hasn’t had the space in his thoughts to think about kids due to how busy he is being a part of these secret operations of the operation brothers, but he’s happy to know he has something to look forward to.
“No way! You’re pregnant? Now that is some exciting news, sugar!“
While he has huge passion for his line of work, he’s more than willing to take a small break and take care of you during your first pregnancy. He’s also eager to be a father again, with your child nonetheless. Still, he’ll have to be away sometimes but he’ll come back sooner than before.
“I’ll be gone every now and then, but I can’t wait to see you each time, glowing more with our child. You’ll look absolutely stunning, muffin. Call me and update me always, okay? That way I have rest assured over yours and the little one’s well-being.”
Jake Jensen
Tumblr media
Jake would be reacting with most physical excitement. When you tell him, you’ll witness his eyes pop out, almost coming through his glasses and his mouth agape. He can’t even remain seated as he rises up from his seat in anticipation.
“What?! We’re having a baby?? Holy shit! - sorry, I’m just - I’m so freaking happy right now! We’re gonna have a baby! We need to celebrate, babe!”
You’ll throw a baby shower and invite his friends, the losers, and later throw a gender reveal party and everything. Jake’s all about going full out on pregnancy celebrations because he thinks they’re fun to arrange while you wait these 9 months due. He’ll buy lots of toys meant for 5+ years kids because he’s so over enthusiastic about it.
“Man, I can’t even contain myself - I know the baby hasn’t even come out yet but we need to buy these action toys. I mean look how cool they are - We should buy them and they’ll be able to play with them after passing year two or something.”
Andy Barber
Tumblr media
You were more than nervous to tell Andy as you didn’t know how he would react when he already has a child from his previous marriage. As you tell him the news, he doesn’t react overly excited but far from disappointed either - rather his face will soften with adoration.
“Aww, honey…this is wonderful. We’re finally going to be parents of our very own baby.”
The two of you are already off shopping for baby clothes and supplies because Andy likes being prepared. You haven’t even ended the second trimester and Andy’s already doing arrangements of turning the guest room into your baby’s room. He doesn’t let you lay down a finger as he wants you to keep all your energy till when you give birth.
“Sweetie, put the pan down. I’ll handle dinner. Just relax on the couch, keep our baby comfortable and I’ll soon come over to you with your favorite dish. I’ll make it’s just the way you like it.” He’ll assure you.
Tumblr media
Note from author: fuck, to be pregnant with any of these men’s child. Sounds like a dream. - anyway thank you for the suggestion anon! ♥️
